Swords

by Zach Zeller

/
1.
Today marks the beginning As I set sail towards a new There are things I don't like So I'll split my problems in two I am smarter than the average man Use my friends to carry out my plans Give me numbers I'll turn them to gold Send me change and I fold
2.
In the morning they will rise In the night they will sleep But for the time in between Endless possibilities Fathers and daughters they dance While the sons and mothers decline The angels in the sky they weep For the damned that they oversee And their souls scream So lift us up Take our hands Bind our feet And place us in the ground Ever so gently As we emerge Their skin painlessly peels off Exposing all of our insides We are precious and impressionable Go ahead Rape our minds Rape, rape our minds
3.
The Storm 03:19
I've graced these hands and have tasted these lips before One day my true love, the next a treacherous storm I have lost again I won't let her back in True love's so sweet as well is the taste for blood The veins run real thin, to thin to ever love again I am coming down From the worst trip of love She wants back my time, my thoughts, my mind I will give back her worthless sense of pride I have gained one love It has a hold on me
4.
The Blizzard 02:01
You tore up my pictures And you put them in a chest There I lay facing All of the rest It's a test, for the best, I can't win It entails me to fail, I won't touch it I moved on to bigger and better things That turned me red Got caught in a blizzard And it messed with my head I can't see, won't believe what you tell I'm alright and delighted that you care I looked in the mirror And saw a much older face I was disgusted It had seen better days I lost track, welcome back, nice to see you Won't delay, here to stay, as for now
5.
Goodbye 03:43
We find caves and build our homes from dust Bones from grave yards, tempting metals rust Closet drinkers, failing teacher's doom Rainy classroom, pictured puzzle room Sign off to the cove, tell your friends goodbye Shifting feet walk, moving side by side Falling downwards, grasping tears of love Streaming upward, spawning fish fly high
6.
You're Mine 02:43
My bones are aching now Time has caught up to me Saw her months ago In the fiery space Didn't speak a word Recognize the face So I decide You're mine Take him by the hand Put him in his place Show him the world Leave a paper trace In the rain You cried Why oh why You're mine
7.
The Airport 02:35
With every breath that's taken His heart slowly creeps out of his chest Within the crowds of people The light is shifting faster He's lost his love Slow down The shoe shiner, he's shining his shoes He says, "It happens all the time" Slow down Turn back Just be silent For once Take a breath Receive the love
8.
The Ending 03:05
In the valleys They'll sing is name In the shadows Beneath the pain To the keepers Of the sea To the angels Over me Oh I, remember his songs

about

This album was recorded in multiple places during the Winter of 2007. Parts were tracked in an empty room, a victorian house, bathrooms, kitchens.. basically anywhere I could set up the recording gear. With the help of friends, these tracks became 'Swords'.
